Every bit an observation only;
A postal service account configured as popular volition not sync between Devices ie if you take the same popular account on your desktop and new laptop what you see on each device will be for that device but, mail/Contacts/Calendar will non sync between devices
For IMAP only mail will sync, zero else
Only the outlook.com mail account, if prepare as exchange will fully sync betwixt devices

Yep, I know, it won't synchronize, which is the drawback of selecting POP3. I accept that.

Yes, just the major question is whether Office 365 Manual POP email setup allows to selecting an
existing .pst file, similar the below. Note that with IMAP at that place is no style to select an existing file.

(I vainly tried to attach an paradigm to my first post, later on selecting the [Upload] button did non work, I managed to upload it at present, meet beneath)
Conventional POP3, IMAP and POP3 thru outlook.office365.com - I picked this upward from other sites.
From what I gather is that no way it is possible to actually select an existing .pst, whilst using Office 365, right? Probably hardcoded to exist stored on C:\
and and so, in case of issues with Windows, forcing to restore a Windows paradigm, mail is gone, which is not the case when the .pst files are stored on another (encrypted) drive.

It appears that Microsoft cannot make its heed upwards! I take standalone Function/Outlook 2013 which appears to be the same as Outlook used by Office 365. If my memory serves me correctly that was the same as Outlook 2003. All the same, there is no bar from importing an Outlook Data File. Would that not solve your problem?

PS: Also see Here which deals with same upshot but 2007/2010. However, I retrieve it should also work with Part 365 using the postal service panel rather than the Magician which is the aforementioned as in your epitome.

The current version of Office 365 is Outlook 2016 so in that location is no change to the program's functionality.
In terms of the PST file, if this is a PST file associated with a POP3 account, there's no difference in how you would proceed.
In terms of IMAP accounts, that would be the default protocol used if yous utilize "auto-notice" to configure the account (entering the email accost/password) instead of manually configuring the account.

Thanks for your feedback so far. I did another readings, simply more or less came to the determination that the thing that I want isn't possible with Function 365, which plain is a tremendous thwarting, really.
I am certain I am not the just one facing this trouble.
As said, I have a number of unlike .pst files (unlike accounts) and also a bunch of archive .pst.
Over the (many) years they became big.
I am almost sure that all that I want can non exist done with Outlook 365.
All that makes it doubtful whether Function 365 tin exist of utilize for me anyway and therefore I have to reconsider ownership a laptop: without being able to use Function Outlook it gets less useful (yes, I know, there is OWA).
Bad luck...

Please.. cheque whether if information technology is possible to selecting existing .pst files ...
My .pst files are located on a different drive.
Based on the screenshot above, I can not select an existing .pst file,
which is no problem with good old POP3.

If you are buying a second PC, and keeping the other, then the continued pst information files (Those used past your pop post account, on the existing desktop) are of no use to you on the new PC
That doesn't employ to archive pst data files, which tin can be viewed in outlook on any PC
And since y'all have stated that you are aware that pop mail accounts and their pst data files will not sync between devices.
So all in all I fail to empathise why you would desire to use an existing connected pst on your new PC - it serves no purpose
